The Lady Hoosiers hosted the Covenant Christian (CC) Warriors - 2A school. Our ISD yearbook reminded us of two things about CC - 2006 was the last year that we won against them.
After 2006, we never won at least one set against CC.
"The Lady Hoosiers survived the counteroffensive by depleting the powerful CC Warriors."
We recalled that half of the current CC players are returning players especially with their setter and two hitters. However, they never knew that our game against Waldron prepared us to challenge them.
We managed to sprint off with a lead over the big and powerful Warriors. We managed to maintain our small run to stay in the lead over the Warriors. We were so surprised that we grabbed our first win 25-18.
Again, it seems that the second set is our favorite set where we made this set the climax of the whole game. You could see that our hitters and the Warrior hitters actually managed to convert the ball into missiles. Both teams managed to receive, pass, then hit. We clinched the point back and forth. We trailed by 2 points. Somehow, our serving and attacking gave us the final 5-0 run to grab our second win 25-23.
We finally sprinted off where we managed to score 7 before they scored the first. Somehow, CC really played up to their reputation as the Warriors. Guess our players suffered post trauma stress disorder (PTSD) where we were rained on by fire arrows from the Warriors, like we did with the Waldron Mohawks yesterday at the first set. We could not to shake it out. Every time we tried to make a run to get a lead, we could not do it. We got our first loss 22-25.
We still suffered our PTSD at the beginning of the fourth set. Somehow, we were able to work around the PTSD by building the gap of leading up to 7 points. With the mental stress from the battle with the Warriors plus tiredness from yesterday’s game, that allowed them to regroup and close the gap and build their lead up to 5 points. With the combination of their attacking errors, our several powerful kills, and a few aces they handed us a win 25-19. We grabbed our ninth victory of the school year 2011.
Our next game is on September 8th with another 2A school - Sheridan at the Caskey Gym at 7pm. Please come out and watch us!
