2014-15 NDIAA Winter National Champions

The Indiana School for the Deaf Athletic Department is proud to announce that two of our winter sports teams have been selected National Champions by the National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association (NDIAA).

Our Wrestling team (20-7) has been selected as the 2014-15 NDIAA Wrestling National Champions, a honor they will share with the California School for the Deaf – Riverside. It should be noted that in our head to head meet against CSD-Riverside, we defeated them last January when the prestigious Willigan Deaf Prep Wrestling tournament was held here on campus at the Caskey Gymnasium.

Our Boys Basketball team (16-8) has been selected the 2014-15 NDIAA Boys Basketball National Champions. Over the course of this recent winter season, we placed 2nd in the Calvary Christian (Illinois) Invitational, defeated Illinois School for the Deaf at our Homecoming game (Illinois went on to capture the 2015 Central Schools for the Deaf championship) and won the Clerc Classic Championship by defeating the Maryland School for the Deaf, which then went on to win the Eastern Schools for the Deaf Athletic Association tournament.

Also, Preston Kelly, Senior was selected as the 2014-15 NDIAA Boys Basketball Player of the Year and Keith Westhoelter, Boys Basketball head coach as the 2014-15 NDIAA Boys Basketball Coach of the Year.

ISD is very proud of them and their team and coaches!  Please congratulate them for their hard work, dedication and achievements to ISD.  Please visit www.ndiaa.us for more information.

NDIAA’s All Americans (both boys and girls) will be announced soon.
